Jean R. Dugan

May 8, 1930 - March 18, 2021

Jean Ruth (Weiss) Dugan, daughter of the late Karl and Lucille Weiss, passed away on March 18th at her home surrounded by her loving children. Jean was born in Cleveland on May 8, 1930 and was a Willowick resident for 64 years. Jean graduated from East High in 1948 where she was a majorette and football queen. Jean attended Fenn College, worked at Republic Steel and the downtown YMCA where she met her husband Dick, longtime sports cartoonist for the Plain Dealer. Jean was a beautiful and spiritual lover of life. She was an amazingly devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took great pride and joy in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Jean was a lifelong learner earning her real estate license in her mid 50's. She was passionate about exercise. Jean was a self-taught swimmer, ice skater, and loved her roller skating days at the Euclid Rollerdome. Jean could be seen riding her bike throughout Willowick into her late 80's. Jean will be profoundly missed and forever in our hearts. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, endless encouragement, and unconditional love. Jean was the beloved wife of the late James Richard 'Dick' Dugan for 58 years; loving mother of James (Amy) Dugan, Linda (Mike, deceased) Pfeiffer, Debbie (Mike) Rezzolla, Kathy (Mike) Gebeke, John (Laura) Dugan and Carol Dugan; cherished grandmother of Brett, Ryan (Vicki), Carli, Rachel, Maddie, Caroline (Adam) Crow, Leslie Pfeiffer, Eric, and Leah Gebeke; and great-grandmother of Wyatt and Jack, loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Kenneth Weiss, Alice Namestnik, Arlene Nida, and Mary Van Vliet. Family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home 35400 Curtis Blvd. Eastlake, OH 44095. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home. Burial to immediately follow at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Jean can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Shoregate United Methodist Church, 30500 Bayridge Blvd, Willowick, OH 44095.
