Michael J. Kurchak
May 12, 1949 - March 16, 2022
Michael J. Kurchak, age 72, died March 14 of natural causes. A resident of Eastlake for 45 years, he was the owner of The Apple Patch and known as "The Apple Man." He is survived by his son, Michael E. (Dawn), daughter Anna (Will Hanisch), and grandsons Michael and Thomas. His loving wife of 49 years, Kathleen, preceded him in death in 2018. He was a fantastic dad, a loving grandfather, a generous, albeit grumpy, neighbor who was always playing practical jokes, speeding through crosswords in pen, and creating CAD drawings for anything he built regardless of how minute. He was an electrical engineer by trade until retirement in 2018 and maintained a pick your own apple orchard since 1981, enjoying bringing affordable fresh apples to the public (and, to his displeasure, the wildlife as well). He was born and raised in Pinconning, Michigan, the eldest in a family of six. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Kurchak, mother, Rose Barnum (Webb), and brother, John. Services will be for the family. Please consider supporting Clothe-A-Child in his honor. Arrangements will be made by Monreal Funeral Home.
