Walter A. Kuhen, Jr.

March 29, 1972 - June 12, 2019

Walter “Wally” A. Kuhen Jr., age 47, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away June 12, 2019. He was born in Cleveland on March 29, 1972. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, stepfather, cousin and dear friend. Wally was a dedicated Educator and proudly taught with the Cleveland Public Schools for over 20 years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hockey, fishing and listening to music with family and friends. Wally cherished his dogs, Sierra and Kayla. For the past two years, Wally fought a valiant battle against cancer while sustaining his independence, spirit and humor until his passing. We were blessed and honored to have known him and appreciated his positive energy. He will be truly missed. Wally is survived by his mother, Kathy Kuhen-Gammalo, siblings Elizabeth (Tom) Wirbel, Sara (Joe) Marcelli, Laurel (Tony) Marich, nephews Joseph Jr., Frank, Thomas, David, Nick and Paul, nieces Emily, Katelyn, Olivia, Mary, Anna, Monica, Brittany and Grace, aunts Mary Ann Grooms, Veronica Forte, Rebecca (Bob) Lowther, uncle Al (Michele) Kuhen, step-daughter Serena Kramer; cousins Stan Preston, Ann Stuck, Kathleen Hartman, Tricia Rizzo, Tracy Hansen, Abigail Lewis, Alexander Lowther, Mary Kuhen, Lisa Murru, Tim Kuhen and Eric Kuhen and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter A. Kuhen Sr., grandparents John (Kathleen) Lynch and Floyd (Maxine) Kuhen, stepfather Joe Gammalo, uncles Jerry Grooms and Jim Forte and aunt Carol Kuhen. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 4 to 7pm at the Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 10am at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Please meet at church. Burial at All Souls, Chardon. In lieu of flowers, please bring school supplies and/or backpacks to the visitation.
