Allan C. Kanieski

Allan C. Kanieski, a beloved husband, dedicated family man, and passionate sports enthusiast, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on June 7, 1945, in Garfield Heights, Ohio, Allan spent his life spreading joy and kindness to everyone he encountered. A proud graduate of Garfield High School, Allan went on to excel at Case Western Reserve University, where he distinguished himself not only as a talented basketball player-serving as captain for both the basketball and baseball teams-but also as the class president for 3 years in High School and 1 year in College. He also earned a prestigious place on Case Western's Hall of Fame. His love of sports continued throughout his life, with a particular passion for Cleveland's teams and countless rounds of golf that brought him joy and camaraderie. He also found enjoyment watching hummingbirds. Al and his wife loved to travel together, seeing the world. Allan cherished his role as a devoted husband to his wife, Sharon. The heart of his life, Sharon inspired and supported him as he navigated the ups and downs of a successful career as a group sales manager for Sears and an Allstate Agency owner until his retirement. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. A gentle and kind spirit, Allan had a remarkable ability to make those around him feel valued and important. He was especially adored by children, often dedicating his time to his beloved grandchildren, with whom he shared countless hours of love and joy. Allan leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Sharon (McDonald) Kanieski, his children, Allynn (Marty Wenzel) Kanieski, his granddaughter, Dagmar Chaplin, his children, Rob (Debbie-deceased) Carpenter, Chris (Kim) Carpenter, and Marlo (Patrick) Ruane, his 17 grandchildren, his 28 great grandchildren and his loving companions, his dogs, Babe and his kitties, Willow, Tabitha and Luna. Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Clemens and Mary B. Kanieski. Allan's love for the simple pleasures in life was evident in his frequent boat rides on Lake Erie and his deep appreciation for the theater. All who knew him will remember him not just for his Polish stubborn streak, but for the laughter and fun he brought to every gathering. Al's Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Monreal Srnick Funerals, Cremations, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake, Ohio from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Allan will be laid to rest at Mentor Cemetery immediately following. Allan C. Kanieski will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the kindness he brought into the world and the love he shared with everyone he met.
