Cindy Stevenson

It is with broken hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Cindy Stevenson, age 56, of Concord, Ohio, who was called home on April 8th after a short courageous battle with skin cancer. Cindy is survived by her beloved mother, Judy Stevenson of Concord; her brother, Bruce Stevenson of New York City; her sister, Sunita Arnold of Concord; her brother-in-law, Joseph; and her cherished niece, Gabby. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas; her grandparents, Zila and Everett Stevenson and Jerold and Eleanor Gano; and many beloved aunts and uncles. Cindy was born June 17, 1969 and lived a life that most people only dream of - full of adventure! A woman who showed up fully for everything she loved. Chief among those loves were her Cleveland Indians and let it be known, not the Guardians. Cindy was no casual fan. She attended hundreds of games at the ballpark, followed the Tribe across the country to series after series, stayed at their same hotel, and accumulated a treasure of autographed photos, baseballs, and bats from the boys of summer. She was there for the World Series in 1997 living every inning. In 2024, Cindy quietly completed something remarkable: she checked the final state off her list, having visited all 50 states. Along the way she explored more than 21 national parks, stood at the graves of every U.S. President, and walked through every Major League Baseball ballpark in the country. She sailed on her dream Alaskan cruise and traveled the world to Guatemala, Australia, England, France, Italy, Mexico, Belize, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Other places she loved were Walt Disney World, Bonita Beach, Florida, and the charming village of Sugarcreek, Ohio which held a special place in her heart as well. Christmas was sacred to Cindy which was her favorite time of year, and one she celebrated with her whole heart. At the center of that celebration were her famous homemade cookies: anise drops, cranberry shortbread, butterscotch haystacks, and peanut butter kisses - carefully filled into boxes and delivered or shipped to friends and family near and far. She wouldn't have missed it for the world. Bringing that kind of joy to the people she loved was exactly the point a little taste of her heart arriving at your door every December. Cindy graduated from Willo-Hill Christian School in 1987 and earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Malone College in 1992. She poured herself into teaching middle school for many years and coached high school volleyball at Willo-Hill. She also dedicated 35 years to Marcs, where she was a manager. A celebration of Cindy's life will be held at Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake, Ohio. 44095 Visitation: Saturday April 18th 10am-12:00pm with a Memorial Service Saturday April 18th starting at 12:30pm. A private burial will follow, with Cindy's final resting place at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Cindy requested that donations be made in Cindy's memory to the American Cancer Society or savethemanatee.org The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the friends who showed up again and again - Sandy, Andrea, Ruby, and Terri - who gave selflessly and embodied the love of Jesus without ever asking for anything in return. Heartfelt thanks also to the nurses and doctors at UH Geauga and Main Campus, Courtney at Willoughby Post Acute, the staff at Mapleview County Villa, and the compassionate nurses and staff at Hospice of the Western Reserve. Your care meant everything.
