Dorothy F. Srnovrsnik

Dorothy F. Srnick, 87, of Euclid, passed away July 30, 2015. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 4, 1927, to the late Frank and Frances Sersic. Dorothy was very family oriented. Being one of nine children, she loved her brother and her seven sisters dearly. She married the love of her life, Bill Srnick, and was blessed with six children, seventeen grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Dorothy loved to have family and friends around, often hosting the clambakes or Halloween parties. Gathering at Grandma's house at the holidays was tradition for family and friends. There was always great food and good music. The Srnicks were known for the Christmas Caroling up and down East 218 Street, instruments and all. Growing up in the 1940's, Dorothy was a fan of the Big Band sound and, of course, Frank Sinatra. In the 1970s, she was thrilled to be able to personally meet him. Dorothy was no stranger to music, as her husband was a drummer and singer with the Vadnal Orchestra. The band members and their wives lead many local, national and world Polka Tours to many destinations; including Reno, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Cruises, and of course, 10 trips to Slovenia. She loved being a hostess on these tours and when the band was not playing, Dorothy always ready with games to keep everyone happy and engaged. While not a musician, Dorothy did love to sing around the house and to compose lyrics. Her most famous, I Want You To Look My Way, was recorded on a Vadnal album. When she wasn't being a hostess to her guests, you could always find her dancing on the polka floor… in her high heels, of course. Dottie, as her close friends called her, was an avid bingo player and loved to gamble. But, nothing was more important to her then her strong faith, with a special adoration for the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was this faith that helped her through her struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Dorothy was married over 44 years to William F. Srnick Deceased, She is survived by her children, Bill Dianne, Chris Len Crawford, Jim Claudia, Don Sue, Phil Srnick and Jane Monreal. Her grandchildren, Robert Barb Srnick, Cheryl Kotonski, Kelley Craig Koslasky, Kristen George White, John Kotonski, Laurie Skillicorn, Kelley Bill Carter, Brian Helen Crawford, Randy Kelly and Terry Hamilton, David Srnovrsnik, Jennifer Joe Simcic, Sarah Weber, Katie Srnick, Andrew Caty Srnick, Alex Kristina Srnick, Tabbitha Srnick and Philip Monreal. She has twenty five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and her siblings Catherine McMillan and Johanna Malbasa. Her siblings whom passed before her Mary Shesko, Helen Strohen, Francis Woyma, Ann Maurer, Alex Sersic and Rose Malbasa. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 10am at Ss Robert and William Parish 367 E 260th St., Euclid, OH 44132. Visitation will be on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 3-8pm at the Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake.
