Janet M. Mills

Janet Marie Mills (nee Metz), 90, passed away surrounded by her family on August 20, 2023. She was born in Lonaconing, MD, on January 26, 1933 to the late Raymond and Mary (Foote) Metz. She was also proceeded in death by her husband of 67 years, Edward Paul Mills, sister Agnes (late husband William) Cooper, brother Raymond (late wife Dorothy) Metz, brother-in-law Francis "Reggie" Mills, brother-in-law Joseph (late wife Betty) Mills, sister-in-law Bernadette "Dana" (late husband Charles "Murph") Murphy, sister-in-law Mary John "Sis" Barclay (late husband Frank) Wilmoth, brother-in-law William "Wink" (Jo) Mills, step-granddaughter Michelle Drury, and niece's Rosemary Murphy and Patty (Metz) Johnson. Janet is survived by her children Joseph (Ellen) Mills, John (Barb) Mills, Mary (Dennis Welker) Kochert, and Diana (Jim) Drury, grandchildren Ed (Carla Davidson) Mills, Megan Mills, Angela Mills, Laura (Will) Staubs, step-grandson Mike (Heather) Drury, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, brother-in-law James "Brennie" (late wife Ann) Mills, many dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends. Janet retired from Gould where she met many lifelong friends. Friends of Janet's would often ask her children if they knew how lucky they were to have such a wonderful woman for their mother - yes, we did, we were truly blessed. Janet was the sweetest, kindest, most caring and loving woman you could ever meet. She always had a smile on her face and shared it with everyone. Janet's faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of the Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church. She was a music lover and played the piano. She always had music playing in the home and it wasn't unusual to find her singing and dancing along with the music. Early in their marriage, Janet and Paul moved to California. She loved living in California, and although she and Paul moved back east, California was always in her heart. Janet loved being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She planned yearly family trips with her children, grandchildren, sister and their families to Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, leaving us all with many found memories from these trips together. Janet enjoyed vacationing there and would plan three to four trips a year. She loved floating around the lazy river and hunting for seashells. She taught her family the secret to finding augers and olives. Janet will be greatly missed. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Visitation will be on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake OH. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 9am till start of service. A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Janet's life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10am at Willoughby Hills United Methodist, 34201 Eddy Rd, Willoughby Hills, OH 44094. Interment will follow at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland, where Janet will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church, Hospice of the Western Reserve, or the charity of your choice
