Thomas Calevich

Thomas J. Calevich, "The Best Dad Sent By Heaven BDSBH," went home to be with his Lord and Sweetie, Bette, Oct. 8, 2012. He died peacefully and was surrounded by his devoted daughters. Tom was the chief engineer of the National Acme Company for 46 years, served on the Wickliffe City Council for over 20 years, and was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. Tom was the adored father of Debbie Mike of Buford, Ga., Carla of Brecksville and Claudia Craig of Mentor; the loving grandfather of six, Tim, Ryan, Katie, and Beth Dubois of Mentor and Tyler and Emily Wilson of Buford Ga.; beloved brother-in-law of Fran and Jim Granahan and Edward and Anastasia Turk; dear uncle and great-uncle to many in the Calevich, Verbeck, and Novak families; and cherished friend to Angela Renninger and her 10 grandchildren. Tom was the last of his generation of the Calevich family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Betty, Stan Rose, George Mary, and Anne Gus Ryavec; and in-laws, Helen and George Verbeck, Emily and Ed Novak, and Ray and Dee Turk. He loved many in Wickliffe. Special thanks to the caring members of the Jennings Center community and the Sisters of the Holy Spirit who gave him and Bette great love and wonderful care. Hospice of the Western Reserve provided compassionate care to Bette and Tom and support to the family. Tom had a smile could light a room. Faith, family, friends and service to his church and Wickliffe were his life. He had a passion for "doing perfect" in life and encouraged his grandchildren in the importance of their education. Friends may celebrate Tom's life from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake. Mass of the Resurrection will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Please meet at the church.
