Christopher M. Sofranko

Christopher M. Sofranko, age 69, passed away on November 21, 2022 after a battle with cancer. Christopher was born on April 4, 1953 in Panama City, Panama to Gene and Betty Sofranko (both deceased). He leaves behind his loving wife, Nancy L. Wilson. Chris and Nancy were married before family and friends on August 6, 2022 on Jekyll Island, Georgia. Chris grew up in Lorain, Ohio and was the the oldest of nine siblings. In his younger years, he enjoyed sports and was an athlete. He was proud of his Catholic education and graduated from Lorain Catholic High School. Chris spent many years as project manager and consultant for his family's businesses, Lorain Glass Company and Lakeland Glass Company. The majority of his professional career was spent working to help those struggling with addiction. Chris worked as a counselor at various addiction recovery centers in Northeast Ohio and Eastern Pennsylvania. He participated in the Erie City Mission/New Life Center Program, then continued to support and serve others in the program. An active member of Alcoholic Anonymous for many years, Chris found great fulfillment acting as a sponsor and helping others achieve sobriety. Most recently, he was employed as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant at Glenbeigh Treatment Center. Chris loved music - particularly live concerts, and was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying college football. One of his favorite fall traditions was traveling to Notre Dame to take in a football game and catch up with family. He had a true zest for life and enjoyed cooking for his loved ones. Chris had a very keen mind, and loved to read, especially philosophy, and discussing current events. He loved to travel, and recently traveled with his wife Nancy to Hawaii, his favorite destination. Chris was a gift giver with a heart of gold and a great sense of humor. He was unselfish, kind, and compassionate. The joy he brought into this life will be remembered and cherished always. A loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Betty Sofranko. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy L. Wilson, his siblings, Kevin (Laurie) Sofranko, Karen (Mike) Ploszek, Ann (Fritz) Shadley, Sue (Scott) Pedersen, Betsy (Joe) Tedesco, Dr. Jean (Mark) Reinhold, Pat (Mike) Smith, Sallie (Rob) Hoelscher and many nieces and nephews. His visitaiton will be held Sunday from 3- 7 PM at Monreal Srnick Funerals & Cremations. Services for Christopher Sofranko will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 7:00 PM at Monreal Srnick Funerals & Cremations, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake
