Edward Beasley

Edward Kenneth Beasley Ed Beasley, age 81, passed away on January 16, 2024 from an unexpected heart attack. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart was left in the memory of all of his family and friends. Ed was born on August 22, 1942, in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Charles and Freda (Norman) Beasley. He passed away while visiting family in Catawba, North Carolina. Ed's journey in life was marked with hard work and care and commitment to his family. Ed was married for forty years to Marilyn and had a blended family of 7 children:, Dwayne (Lynette), Joetta (Russ)DeMeza, Denny (Nikki), Davie, Ken (Andrea) Strauss, David (Amy) Strauss, Scott (Crystal) Strauss, 14 grandchildren: Kayla (Rich), Kourtney (Daniel) Sulzer, Drew (Cody), Daniel (Tarryn), Alex, Austin, Aaron and Abbey, Matt Smith, Breanna (CJ)Strauss, Brandon Strauss, Meryl-Lyn Sines, Sharley Sines, Carly Nelson and 3 great grandchildren, Kolette, Christian, Kasion and Jameson on the way. Ed loved each and every member of his huge and ever-growing blended family the same. Ed was always willing to work hard and give of his time to help. He was an Eastlake Auxiliary Policeman and coached Eastlake Youth Basketball. He was a chemist for LTV Steel and retired after 40 years. Ed was young at heart. Although he was 81 we celebrated his 14th Birthday every year. A man of simple pleasures, he had a love of family and fishing. He loved his family vacations. He couldn't wait to snag that huge Red Snapper (or any fish big or small). He loved to see nature and especially the beautiful flowers and an occasional alligator. He loved getting around the parks rather quickly on his scooter. Ed always wanted the best for his family. He was proud of his children and always loved them. He had strong principles and was always warning his children to be true to themselves and especially encouraged them not to overindulge in alcohol or any other things that would harm them. With an infectious sense of humor, Ed had an unmatched ability to bring laughter and joy into every room he was in. His witty remarks and genuine smile endeared him to all those fortunate enough to cross his path. He was a compassionate and kind-hearted man, always ready to extend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need. He was affectionately called "Pain" because he loved to tease to make others smile. He was a proud and devoted husband, Dad, Papa, son, uncle, cousin, brother and friend, who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Ed leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Marilyn(Prijatel-Strauss), brother Ray Beasley, sisters Teresa Seidule, Sharon Beasley, Melinda (Chris) Velichka. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, uncles, cousins and many loved ones. A visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5 - 8 PM at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake. Funeral Mass for Ed will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Noon at St. Justin Martyr, 35781 Stevens Blvd., Eastlake, Father Bob Stec presiding.
